18.09.26 - Reading!

Our children in Sunset and Yellow Base have had a wonderful start to the term, with a strong focus on developing a love of reading for pleasure. The classrooms have been buzzing with excitement as pupils explore stories, share favourite books, and spend calm moments enjoying our cosy book corners.

 

11.09.26 - Welcome Back to School!

We have had a wonderful fun week across Sunset and Yellow Base classes. We have been getting to know each other, practising routines and learning how to behave in our new year group. 

We have worked hard getting to know each other, we have completed fun activities like art projects where we have celebrated how we are different and unique. 

We are looking forward to the year ahead!

26.06.26 - Skipping Festival!

Yellow Base has been full of energy and excitement this week as we enjoyed our fantastic skipping festival. The children took part in a range of skipping skills, including single bounce, double bounce, side swing and side straddle. It was wonderful to see so much determination, rhythm and growing confidence.

We also loved watching the group games, especially Keep the Pot Boiling, which brought lots of laughter and teamwork. The children encouraged one another brilliantly and showed great sportsmanship throughout.

A special well done goes to the many children who took part in the competition. We were thrilled to celebrate so many achievements, with pupils proudly receiving gold, silver and bronze certificates. Their hard work, perseverance and positive attitudes shone through.

Thank you to everyone for supporting Yellow Base and helping make this event such a memorable success.

19.06.26 - Geography!

This half term, Yellow Base will be exploring the seaside and all the exciting things that make coastal places so special. To begin, we carried out a pre-assessment to find out what the children already knew, which helped us plan our learning carefully and build on their existing ideas.

As a fun hook into the topic, the children created their own seaside scene using sand and water in a tray. They absolutely loved this hands-on activity and it sparked lots of brilliant conversation and curiosity.

Over the coming weeks, children will be learning to use maps to locate the nearest seaside and developing their understanding of the coast. They will also explore some of the physical and human features of seaside locations, helping them to make connections between what they see in pictures, on maps and in real life.

12.06.26 - Bikeability!

Yellow Base have been enjoying our Year 2 cycle sessions, and what fantastic progress they have made! The children have been learning how to ride bikes without stabilisers, building confidence, balance and control with every attempt. It has been lovely to see so many smiles as they kept trying, listened carefully and supported one another so well.

A big focus throughout the sessions has been safety. The children have been reminded how important it is to wear helmets properly and to stay aware of others around them while cycling. These valuable habits are helping them develop independence and responsibility as they learn.

Even with the rain, the children had lots of fun and showed brilliant enthusiasm throughout. Their positive attitudes made each session a joy to watch, and we are very proud of their hard work and determination.

22.05.26 - DT!

This week Yellow Base finalised their DT topic on deigning and making their very own car. They event tested and raced the cars to see which design worked the best!

15.05.26 - DT!

In DT, the children in Yellow Base have started to paint their cars. They are working carefully and showing great creativity as they choose colours and add their own details. Next, they will be attaching the wheels using axles and a chassis, bringing their designs one step closer to being finished. The children are enjoying the process and are building confidence as they learn how different parts fit together. It has been lovely to see their enthusiasm and teamwork during this hands-on project.

01.05.26 - Skipping School!

Recently, we had the wonderful opportunity to welcome Adele from the Skipping School, who came to coach us in preparation for our upcoming summer skipping festival. Her expertise and enthusiasm have truly inspired our students!

During our sessions, we focused on a variety of techniques, including the single bounce, where each jump is followed by a single turn of the rope, and the double bounce, which adds an extra bounce for a fun challenge. We also practised the side swing, a great way to build coordination, and the side straddle, which encourages teamwork and rhythm. Lastly, we enjoyed the hop and swap, a lively activity that keeps everyone engaged and moving.
